Core psychiatry

Preparing you for a career in psychiatry

The North West London core psychiatry training programme hosts an impressive 118 training positions across two hospital schemes, Charing Cross Hospital (62 positions) and St Mary’s Hospital (56 positions). Due to the size of our┬áprogramme we can offer plenty of valuable opportunities across a vast number of psychiatry areas. You will build a strong foundation of skills and experience in general adult psychiatry, older adult psychiatry, Child and Mental Health Services (CAMHS), learning disability psychiatry, forensic psychiatry and liaison psychiatry.

Ongoing support

During your time on the core psychiatry programme you will receive support from a network of people dedicated to ensuring you get the most out of your training and successfully complete both academic and clinical units.

You will be allocated an educational supervisor who you will meet with on a regular basis, as well as a deputy educational lead who can provide advice and manage any training issues.

Tell us what you think

We are always keen to receive feedback. If you have any comments on the format or content of the programme, or if you have any questions, you can speak to your elected trainee representative or local training leads who will raise your concerns at the quarterly regional training meetings.

If you have any questions or comments in the meantime, please contact us here.
