Paediatrics (core and intermediate)
Welcome to the North West London core and intermediate paediatrics training programme.
Our programme delivers the first five years of paediatric specialty training (ST1 – ST5), which includes:
- General paediatric training
- Neonatal training
- Community paediatric placements
- Sub-specialty experience
Many of our trainees will have the opportunity to spend time at Great Ormond Street Hospital (typically within the 3rd year of training) in order to gain extensive sub-specialty experience.
Sharing best practice
Due to longstanding relationships and close geographical proximity between Trusts and paediatric departments in our region, there are lots of opportunities for synergy and collaboration of sector based clinical work between training posts. Trainees regularly share best practice among colleagues.
We also have very strong connections with other paediatric programmes run in South London and North Central & East London, and together these programmes are part of the London School of Paediatrics.

MSc Advanced Paediatrics Course – September 2015 – King’s College London (KCL)
There are still spaces to enrol (deadline 20th September) on the MSc in Advanced Paediatrics that is running at the KCL and which is recruiting to its 5th year this September.
I have attached the flyer for your perusal plus the 2015-16 timetable for the course. The brochure details among other things that the course content is research and evidence based, with the aim of developing students into exemplary members of the interprofessional healthcare team. Past students have all agreed that undertaking the MSc has developed and enhanced their careers immeasurably.
Every year in the last 3 years, the course has been top rated in terms of educational value by trainees, nurses and pharmacists in the whole of the School of Medicine and Biomedical sciences at KCL. In addition to the advertised modules there will also be an option to do a module in Paediatric Mental Health in the second year run by Dr Max Davie.
If you have any questions about the course please do not hesitate to contact me in the first instance or Noel Graffie the Programme Administrator for the MSc. Our contact details are on the flyer. Alternatively, you can click on the link below directing to the KCL website to find out more information about the course. https://www.kcl.ac.uk/prospectus/graduate/advanced-paediatrics
Please note that the fees as in conjunction with other universities running the same course will be going up next year in September 2016.
